When you buy something, do you check the size of the product? I'm sure that many of you don't.
Well, let me tell you, size does matter. Don't be fool by the lower price item. Check the contents. The lower priced item may contain less. Let's take Nestlé Milo Fuze 3 in 1 Original as an example. We have observed that the following are the available sizes:
30g x 8
30g x 20
30g x 30
33g x 8
33g x 20
33g x 30
See the difference of 3g? This is a difference of 10%. So, when you pay 10% less, check whether you have gotten 10% less.
Another type of products that have confusing sizes are shampoos. 340ml vs 360ml may look insignificant but that is a 5% difference. The packaging will definitely look the same and you will not notice this unless you note it done (we don't until we started collecting prices for SaversHub.com).
For toothpaste, we have observe the following sizes: 200g, 225g, 250g. That's a difference of 10%.
Our advice, look carefully at the packaging. However, this is not an easy task. The weight/volume specification may be written anywhere on the packaging. Since there is no standard on where it should be located, I myself had a hard time finding it.

Tesco Promotion 7-20 June 2012
What great prices are in store for us at Tesco Malaysia this week?
Looks like Tesco is offering Dynamo Liquid Detergent 4.1/4.4kg at RM20.99. Promo prices are usually around RM19-21. Usual price is RM27. So this is a 20% savings.
Do you like Ayamas Chicken Nuggets, well, Tesco promo price is RM9.29. This price is about 25% cheaper than the nearest competitor.
Looking for Dutch Lady Low Fat Yoghurt or Dutch Lady 0% Fat Yoghurt, Tesco offer price at RM3.99 is about 10% cheaper than the nearest rival.
Our stock of cheese slices is running low. Looks like Giant, Jusco and Tesco all have offer for Chesdale. Prices difference is only RM0.50. I think that I will put this into my shopping list too.
Any UHT milk for you? I usually use the milk as a creamer for my coffee and tea. To avoid gaining weight, I have stopped using condense creamer for my oatmeal. Sugar is bad bad bad! As a substitute, I am using milk now. The taste is still creamy minus the sweetness. This week, Tesco is offering 4 x 1 litre of Dutch Lady UHT milk at RM16.00. Usual price is RM4.89, this means that I can save around 18%. This item will also go into my shopping list.

Grocery Price Calculator
We know that currently, we are unable to provide all prices. You must remember, a big store like Giant or Tesco will have more than 15,000 items while a small store like 99 Speedmart will have around 4000 items.
So, how do you compare prices? As far as we know, only Tesco shows price in per 100 unit (i.e. RM / 100g) With this, you can compare prices for different packaging price.
So, when you shop, do you bring a calculator with you? All current smart phone has a calculator in it. But, it is still a chore to do the following:
Price / weight * 100 to get the per 100 unit price.
What happen when you have the following price: Buy 1st item at RM15.00, 2nd item, 25% off. You will have to:
Price + 25% x Price / (1000 x 2) * 100
to get the per 100 unit price.
Well, we have decided to put in a Grocery Price Calculator into your Price Search result. It is located at below the Product Menu. Just type in your price or percent discount x price. Then type in the weight.
In the above example, the price after 15% (type in 100-15=85) discount for weight 33g x 20 unit. The price per 100g is 1.54.
You can type in *, /, x, +, -, % (percent) into the calculator.
We hope you like this function. Now, we can easily compare prices.
